Due to a sudden illness "A conversation with Roy Clark" 85th birthday celebration scheduled for April 21 at the William Inge Theatre has been postponed. "Roy was really looking forward to celebrating his birthday in Independence, a town he feels is like his hometown. Even though he will not be able to celebrate now he is hoping at a later date he will be in Independence to celebrate with his friends and share the stories of his career at the place where he got his career start," according to Mike Flood of

Even though Clark is feeling better after his time in the hospital he will need some time to recuperate which may take longer than he wants. He, his agent and friend Jim Halsey felt it best to postpone his "A Conversation with Roy Clark" show to a later date.

"A Conversation with Roy Clark"
Comes to the William Inge Theatre in Independence, Kansas
Roy Clark, one of the country's most beloved entertainers, is coming back to Independence, Kansas and the William Inge Theatre on the campus of Independence Community College on April 21, 2018. Roy's birthday will be celebrated along with his "A Conversation with Roy Clark" show. The up close and personal evening with the entertainer will begin at 7:00 p.m. Come listen to the stories from Hee Haw, the Beverly Hillbillies, the Grand Ole Opry, the Tonight Show, meeting Elvis, and of course all the other musical legends he has met along the way. Roy will give the audience a rare look back at his life memories, as well as answer questions from the audience. There is a good chance stories of his early career and trips to Independence will also be heard. He is still managed by his friend and Independence native Jim Halsey. Roy and Jim discovered each other in November of 1959 at a Wanda Jackson concert at Memorial Hall in Independence. "The minute I saw him and heard him play guitar I knew he was destined to be a star," said Halsey. The conversation show is an opportunity to hear the actual story from Roy about the beginning of his career. Roy's 85th birthday is on April 15th and it was decided there was no better place to celebrate than Independence where it all began.
Roy is excited about returning to Independence where he still has many friends. His area friends include Rodney Lay, originally from Coffeyville, Vernon Sandusky who still lives in Edna and many others. The show is being produced by Mike Flood and his company

Mr. Clark is introducing his friend Kyle Dillingham and Kyle's band Horseshoe Road who will open the show. The band just got back from a tour in China and was recently featured on the national TV show "Good Morning America." Kyle and his band are currently under the management of the Impresario Jim Halsey. Halsey also discovered Reba McEntire, Lee Greenwood, Wanda Jackson, Freddy Fender, Dwight Yoakam, The Oak Ridge Boys, Clint Black and yes, Roy Clark.

World renowned fiddle sensation and Oklahoma Musical Ambassador, Kyle Dillingham, has over 20 years of international experience with performances in 36 countries. The Enid native picked up the violin when he was nine, and eight years later, he gave two featured performances at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Recently Kyle reconnected with his friend Roy Clark and is opening his shows "A Conversation with Roy Clark."
